Attractions further afield
Wigtownshire, Galloway
is a very beautiful area, full of historical interest, with a long coastline, some beautiful sandy beaches and the backdrop of the Southern Uplands of Scotland. The Galloway Forest Park is the largest in Britain at over 300 square miles where there exist many forest walks, trails and beauty spots.
Many visitors to Scotland charge up the M74, under the misapprehension that Scotland only begins North of Edinburgh or Glasgow, unaware that a few miles to their left is some of Scotland's most beautiful, undiscovered countryside in Dumfries & Galloway. It has been said Galloway is 'Scotland rolled into one'.
The Gardens of Galloway
Visit some of the most spectacular gardens in Scotland as Galloway is renowned for its variety. Visit Logan Botanic in the west of the region or Castle Kennedy and Glenwhan, to the more formal Cally and Threave Gardens further to the east.
